William P. Wood is a former district attorney who has handled thousands of cases and dozens of trials involving crimes ranging from disturbing the peace to murder. He is the author of the novels Rampage, which was made into a motion picture for Miramax, Gangland, Fugitive City, Stay of Execution, Quicksand and Broken Trust, which was made into a motion picture for TNT. In addition, he wrote the true crime book The Bone Garden based on Sacramento boardinghouse killer Dorothea Puente, who buried seven of her nine victims in her yard. Wood sent Puente to prison for earlier crimes including robbery and drugging elderly victims.
