Stephen Blaha is an internationally known physicist with extensive interests in Science, the Arts, and Technology. He has written several highly regarded books: on theoretical Physics: A Finite Unified Quantum Field Theory of the Standard Model and Quantum Gravity; on physics, consciousness and philosophy: Cosmos and Consciousness; on a mathematical theory of History: The Life Cycle of Civilizations; and other books on a variety of themes. He has served on the faculties of several major universities. He has also served as a Member of the Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories and as a Director of Wang Laboratories as well as being President of a major software company. Dr. Blaha is noted for contributions to elementary particle theory and solid state physics theory as well as contributions to Computer Science. His achievements include developing the first divergence-free Quantum Field Theory of the Standard Model and Quantum Gravity thus solving a major 60 year old Physics problem; discovery of a gauge field theory with an explicit "r potential" for heavy quark binding; discovery of the existence of topological structures in superfluid He-3; development of the first grammar-based formalism for quantum computers with applications in computer science and in elementary particle theories; pioneering work in UNIX networking (1981), financial and scientific analysis UNIX software, PC financial modeling software, UNIX database benchmarking, and PC Desktop Publishing. He has received Honorable Mention in the Gravity Research Foundation Competition and was nominated for 3 Awards for Technnical Excellence by PC Magazine.
