During WW2 Alan Bramson was a wartime RAF flying Instructor with an AI rating. After the war he became a professional pilot and, in the course of writing for aviation magazines worldwide, flew 270 types of aircraft ranging in size from single seat racers to a four engine passenger jet. From 1973 until his retirement in 1983 he was Chairman of the Panel of Examiners which tests flying instructors on behalf of the UK Civil Aviation Authority. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, a Member of the British Association of Aviation Consultants and a Liveryman of the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators.
