In 1981, she graduated from Purdue University with a degree in communication. Growing up, she had no idea she wanted to be a writer. Klink was a shy, little girl with a sixth sense—an intuition. She could (and does) read people. She feels the heart of a happening. And it seems Klink records each of her happenings on a spinning reel of cerebral tape——she grew up in a time before digital—and plays it back on paper within the essays she writes. After her second son was born in 1998, she developed the idea for Purdue Pete Finds His Hammer. Her son loved Purdue Pete, so she looked for a children’s book about the Purdue University mascot, but found none. So, she wrote her own book and self-published it under the name Mascots for Kids thinking there could be more college mascot children’s books in her future. Stay tuned.
