This Urtext edition is based upon the autographs of the piano works of Brahms and/or copies of first editions publushed during the composer's lifetime, most being Handexemplar copies owned by the composer, which contains his subsequent revisions. The editors have attempted to present a score with an appearance to correspond as closely as possible in content and form to the intentions of the composer.
