Performance Welding Handbook

Richard Finch, SAE, AWS, is a certified aircraft welder, a race car and aircraft builder, and longtime author of welding books, including HP Books' Welder's Handbook. He is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and the American Welding Society. He also has a degree in welding science. Highlights of his long, 50-plus year career include serving as chief welder for the Ted Smith (Piper) Aerostar Aircraft Corporation and as senior project engineer at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, where he in oversaw building space shuttle astronauts' emergency egress systems. He has also built experimental differentials for Indy 500 race cars and for GM, Ford, Jeep, and other automotive manufacturers. He now works as a part-time welding instructor for The Experimental Aircraft Association, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and continues to write books and magazine articles on welding.
