José Morales Dorta was born in Hatillo, Puerto Rico. He earned a B.A. from the University of Puerto Rico in 1960. In 1968, he earned a Master’s degree from New York University. Morales completed studies in psychology and earned a diploma as Psychoanalyst Gestald. He earned a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Santa Barbara in California. Morales stands out professionally in hospitals and clinics in New York, and has been a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, the U.S. Association of Psychologists, among others. Morales has written about various topics linked to history, culture, and the men and women of Puerto Rico. His publications include El cacao, baluarte de la cultura puertorriqueña, 1976; El espiritismo puertorriqueño, religión y psicoterapia, 1976; Galería de héroes de Puerto Rico, 1997; El Patriarcado, una introducción a la iglesia primitiva cristiana.
