Charles D. Smith has taught at San Diego State University and Wayne State University and is professor of Middle East history in the Department of Near Eastern Studies at the University of Arizona Smith is past president of the American Research Center in Egypt and is a member of the Committee on International Historical Studies of the American Historical Association. Smith was most recently a fellow at the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy at the University of Arizona.
