Jon Marcus is a lifelong New Englander, born in Boston (11/24/1960, US citizen) and schooled in Maine. He began his professional career on Cape Cod. He is a graduate of Bates College, Oxford University, and the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University. He has written about travel for "Yankee," "Conde Nast Traveler," "Travel Weekly," and other magazines, as well as the "Boston Globe," "Baltimore Sun," "Chicago Tribune," "Dallas Morning News," "Detroit Free-Press," "Houston Post," "Los Angeles Times," "Miami Herald," "St. Louis Post-Dispatch," "St. Paul Pioneer-Press," "Washington Post," and other newspapers. Marcus is editor for "Boston Magazine" and a U.S. education correspondent for The Times of London.
