Stacy Haponik, the editor, is a student at Marshall County High School in Benton, Kentucky. She became interested in this book when her mother brought an original 1892 printing home in a box of other musty old books from an estate sale. Enchanted with the story and wanting to know more about the author, she wrote the National Archives for his pension records. The more she learned, the stronger she felt that this book needed to reach a wider audience. This printing is the result of her efforts.
