Judith Cooper Haden has been photographing people and places in developing countries, particularly Latin America, for the past twenty-five years. A former Peace Corps volunteer in El Salvador, she has had numerous one-woman shows; her photographs have also appeared in Sunset, Epicure, and Sky magazines, as well as The Oaxaca Handbook. In 1999 she was awarded the Lente de Plata from Mexico's then president Ernesto Zedillo. Haden resides in Seattle near her two sons, and owns and operates Casita, a Latin American folk art shop and gallery Matthew Jaffe is an awardwinning senior writer at Sunset magazine. His articles on travel, cultural, and environmental issues have also appeared in Insight Travel Guides, the Los Angeles Times, and Sierra magazine.
