Anne Holm (1922-1998) was born in Denmark, and she began her writing career as a journalist. I Am David was originally published-under the title David-in Denmark, where it became a million-copy bestseller and received numerous awards. It was published to much acclaim in the United States as North to Freedom, and later was made into the movie I Am David.
