John L. Behler is Curator of Herpetology at the New York Zoological Society's Bronx Zoo. Since he joined the staff of the Society in 1970, his popular articles on reptiles and amphibians have appeared regularly in Animal Kingdom magazine. In addition to his ongoing work with native northeastern reptiles and amphibians, Behler has participated in numerous national and international studies, including the United Nations Development Programme's 1975 expedition to Papua, New Guinea, to examine that country's crocodilian conservation program. F. Wayne King is Director of the Florida State Museum and an internationally recognized expert on the conservation of endangered animals, especially reptiles and amphibians. He is Deputy Chairman for the Species Survival Commission of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources, former Director of Conservation for the New York Zoological Society, and a past Curator of Herpetology at the New York Zoological Society's Bronx Zoo.
