Ed Mitchell flew on the first B-29 raid over Japan in June, 1944, marking the first time Americans had bombed the island since Gen. Jimmy Doolittle's raid. He went on to a career as an airline pilot with Seaboard World, where he helped ferry a "lost tribe" of Israel, faced down Idi Amin, and found himself at the center of some of the twentieth century's greatest conflicts.
