SUMMARY

John Long received his Ph.D. in paleontology from Monash University in Australia. He has held research positions at the Australian National University, the University of Western Australia, and the University of Tasmania. Long has spent time in the field collecting fossils in locales stretching from Australia to South Africa to Thailand and Vietnam. The author of over 100 scientific papers, more than 60 popular science articles, and two children's novels, he has also written a number of scholarly books on fish fossils, dinosaurs, and evolution.
