The Spiritual was written later, inspired by an anthology of hymns, gospel and spirituals the author had arranged. Country Dance was an improvisation captured between songs in the recording studio while working on a completely different project. Finally, the fourth movement, Mojave, was written to complete the suite. The work has been through many hands and journeyed far over the years. It has been performed or recorded by such fine guitarists as Manuel Lopez-Ramos, William Feasley, and Jack Cecchini.
