Scott Doggett A New York City native, Scott spent most of his childhood in California. He graduated from UC Berkeley in June of 1983 and began his professional life six weeks later as a freelance photographer covering wars in Central America. That death-wishy behavior, as he now views it, was followed by postgraduate work at Stanford University; crime reporting in Los Angeles and war reporting in Afghanistan for United Press International ('more lunacy,' he says); and, from 1989 through 1996, seven years as a staff editor for the Los Angeles Times ('the payoff for all the lunacy'). Anxious to see more of the world, Scott began writing for Lonely Planet in 1997. Today, he is the author of Lonely Planet's Las Vegas and Yucatan guides and coauthor of Lonely Planet's Havana, Mexico and Dominican Republic and Haiti guides. Scott has also written guidebooks to Amsterdam and Los Angeles, and he is an author and coeditor of the award-winning anthology Travelers' Tales: Brazil. In 1999 and 2000, Scott briefly rekindled his love affair with the Times, writing a weekly business column for the newspaper with his wife, Annette Haddad.Doggett, Scott is the author of 'Lonely Planet Panama', published 2001 under ISBN 9781864503074 and ISBN 1864503076.
