Glenda Bendure and Ned Friary Glenda grew up in California's Mojave Desert and first travelled overseas as a high school AFS exchange student to India. Ned grew up near Boston and studied social thought and political economy at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. After meeting in Santa Cruz, California, where Glenda was finishing her university studies, they took to the road and spent several years travelling throughout Asia and the Pacific, including stints in Japan where Ned taught English and Glenda edited a monthly magazine. They eventually came back to the USA, settled down on Cape Cod in Massachusetts and began to write for Lonely Planet. In addition to Denmark, Ned and Glenda are the authors of Lonely Planet's guides to Copenhagen, Hawaii, Oahu and Bermuda' and they have written the Denmark and Norway chapters of Lonely Planet's Scandinavian and Baltic Europe.
