Jeanne Oliver Born in New Jersey, Jeanne spent her childhood mulling over the New York Times travel section and plotting her future voyages. After a BA in English at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a stint at the Village Voice newspaper, Jeanne got a law degree. After working as a prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney's office, Jeanne started her own legal practice. It was interrupted by ever-more-frequent trips to far-flung destinations and eventually she set off on a round-the-world trip that landed her in Paris. A job in the tourist business leading tours through Normandy led to freelance writing assignments for magazines and guidebooks. She joined Lonely Planet in 1996 and has written the 1st editions of Lonely Planet's Croatia, Normandy, Crete and Crete Condensed as well as updating chapters on Crete, Croatia and Slovenia in Greece, Mediterranean Europe, Central Europe and Eastern Europe.
