Can we reasonably speak of 'linguistics realities'? Do theoretical linguists devise accounts of a reality which exists outside of their theories? In this study, the author tackles these questions by investigating the debate between realist and instrumentalist philosophies of science, and proposing a philosophy of linguistics based on Popper's falsificationist realism and his ontology of objective knowledge. This metatheory shows that generative linguistics is not a branch of social of psychological theory but investigates specifically linguistic realities.Carr, Philip is the author of 'Linguistic Realities: An Autonomist Metatheory for the Generative Enterprise - Philip Carr - Hardcover' with ISBN 9780521364010 and ISBN 0521364019.
