Mike Bailey was born in Norwich in 1934. In 1944-45 he spent much of his time around the Liberators at Horsham St Faith -- the airfield from which he learned to fly many years later. His first flight was in a de Havilland Dragon Rapide, in 1946. Army service in the mid-1950s took him to the Suez Canal Zone. In the 1960s he took up aviation art, which he still pursues. An Honorary Member of the 2nd Air Division Association since 1974, Mike still resides in Norwich with his wife Maureen. Tony North, a Yorkshireman, moved to Norwich in 1940 and spent much of his spare time as a schoolboy visiting the local airfields such as Hardwick, Rackheath, Hethel and Horsham St Faith. After RAF service, he became an engineering draughtsman. In 1985 he became Memorial Trust Aide at the 2nd Air Division Memorial Library, a post he held until 1991. In 1992 he was given the 2nd Air Division's Distinguished Service AwardBailey, Mike is the author of 'Liberator Album B-24 Liberators of the 2nd Air Division, Usaaf' with ISBN 9781857800609 and ISBN 1857800605.
