"Back in early 2004, when D was still a fledgling language, Tango existed as two discrete projects. A small generic library was available at the time, but many felt that it could be improved. Work began on both low-level and high-level community-driven libraries, called Ares and Mango, respectively. Early in 2006, an effort was started to combine these two libraries, significantly reshape the API, and document the result in a variety of ways. Like many engineers, we found it easier to wrangle the code than to write about it, yet over time, a set of online documentation evolved to reflect the library facilities.
