Lasik Surgery

Shashi Kapoor completed his corneal training at the LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad and then went on to pioneer the use of excimer laser in India in 1991. He has been at the forefront of teaching and conducted over 30 live surgical workshops all over the country. He has edited many books as well as contributed chapters to several books and periodicals. He has been executive editor of Ophthalmology Times, USA as well as held office at various positions in Bombay Ophthalmologists Association and Indian Ophthalmologists Society. He is at present, President of Indian Intraocular Implant and Refractive Society. Ioannis G Pallikaris is Professor and Head, Dept of Ophthalmology, University of Crete, Greece. He is considered as the 'Father of Refractive Surgery'. He had the brilliance to start LASIK in the world. He has 97 publications in International peer-reviewed ophthalmic journals. He is author of 3 books on ophthalmology and has contributed more than 20 chapters in International textbooks. He is a reviewer in 5 International peer-reviewed journals and Principal Advisor of 25 PhD theses. He has been invited as Guest Faculty speaker in 80 International conferences. He has 15 International awards to his credit, specially 'Barraquer award' from AAO, the 'Casebeer award' by ISRS and Dr Kelman Innovator's Lecture by ASCRS. Srinivas K Rao DO, DNB, FRCSEd completed his medical training in 1988 and his ophthalmic education in 1991. He has since worked as a Senior Consultant at Sankara Nethralaya for 15 years before accepting the post of Professor in the Chinese University of Hong Kong from September 2004 till October 2006. He has more than 15 years of experience in the management of complex cataracts, corneal and refractive diseases. He was one of the first surgeons in the country to use complex surgical techniques like limbal stem cell transplants, lamellar corneal surgical procedures, and keratoprosthesis to help patients with end-stage corneal eye disease. He has published extensively in these areas and is much sought after as a speaker and teacher.
