Kiowa's Odyssey A Sketchbook from Fort Marion

Features a sketchbook of drawings, in the tradition of Indian ledgerbooks, that chronicle the experiences of 72 Southern Plains Indians captured by the U.S. Army in Oklahoma in 1875. They were transported to Fort Marion, Florida, where Lt. Richard Henry Pratt, a prominent advocate of Indian assimilation, attempted to bring their appearance, behavior, language, and beliefs into line with white models.
