Sara Paretsky is the creator of the V. I. Warshawski novels, as well as several collections of short stories and the nonseries novel Ghost Country. She spent almost fifteen years in corporate finance and marketing, experience that shows up in V. I. Warshawski's detection of the low side of high finance. The holder of a PhD in U.S. history and an MBA in finance, Paretsky is the recipient of the Cartier Diamond Dagger for lifetime achievement as a writer.
