An attorney argues the inspired New Testament consists of Jesus' words only. Paul's status is questioned. First, in none of Paul's vision accounts in Acts chs. 9, 22, & 26 did Jesus make Paul an apostle. Nor did the twelve ever recognize this status for Paul. Second, Paul never made a valid prophecy. Third, Paul must be rejected under Deut. 13:1-5 because he taught the Law of Moses was nullified. Fourth, Jesus likely intended we understand Paul was the person in Rev. 2:2 whom the Ephesians put on trial who said he was an apostle but was not one. This Ephesus trial in the Province of Asia is alluded to in Acts19:1, 8-10. Paul refers to it several times as well. (2 Tim. 1:15; 4:14-17; 2 Cor. 18:9.) Finally, Jesus' critique of one bringing the teachings of Balaam in Revelation 2:14 must be a veiled reference to Paul. Paul three times teaches it is permissible to eat meat sacrificed to idols. (Romans 14:21;1 Corinthians 8:4-13, and 1 Corinthians 10:19-29.) Thus, using the Bible's standards for canon, Paul is disqualified. Jesus alone in the NT gave a validated prophecy -- the fall of the Temple of Jerusalem and His own resurrection.
