Floyd "Pete" Nelson is the father of Jameer Nelson. He became the guiding force, chauffeur, and arranger for his sons' participation in sports. He transferred to his sons not only a love of sports, but also much of his genial personality, strong moral character, and love for people. In addition to his weekday work as a welder, he conducts welding seminars on weekends. He is well known for his talents at the barbeque pit in Chester, where he lives with his wife, Elsie, and son Maurice. He hopes to gather more stories as he continues to play an active role in his youngest son's sports exploits and someday those of his grandson, Jameer Jr. Elaine Whelan has known Jameer since he played at Chester High and on her Donofrio Classic team. The landmark U.S. Supreme Court case Whelan v. Jaslow that confirmed use of copyright laws to protect computer software became the subject of her book My Mom's Making History directed toward teaching the history and purpose of copyrights to students. She and her husband, Charles, live in a rural village near Philadelphia and are the parents of Chad and Christie, grandparents of Bryn and Ruth.Nelson, Pete is the author of 'Jameer The Story of Jameer Nelson and How He Came to be a Phenomenon on the Basketball Court and in Life', published 2004 under ISBN 9781582619057 and ISBN 1582619050.
