Basketry scholar Ralph Shanks, M.A., is vice president of the Miwok Archeological Preserve of Marin (MAPOM). He conducted over two decades of research with renowned basketry scholar Larry Dawson, museum anthropologist at the Phoebe Hearst Museum of Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley. Ralph has also worked extensively with Native American cultural leaders, weavers and elders.
