Henk A. Becker is professor of sociology at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. He has been engaged since the mid-1980s in research on generations. He has also published widely on the methodology of social impact assessment and the state of the art in sociology. He is presently focusing on the effects of discontinuous technological change on behavior and institutions. Jacques Coenen-Huther is associate professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Geneva. He was associate editor of International Sociology (1986-1990) and editor of the Swiss Journal of Sociology (1991-1995).
