History of Medical Informatics

This book, the edited proceedings from an ACM-sponsored conference, provides a first-hand look at the early development of medical informatics - or the applications of computer technology to medicine. It comprises papers by many of the pioneers in the field. The contributors had been invited by the National Library of Medicine in November, 1987, to share their recollections of major accomplishments in medical informatics, and to review these accomplishments in the context of our current understanding.
