Lori Mosca, MD, PhD is Director of Preventive Cardiology at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where she runs a breakthrough program that teaches preventive lifestyle choices to at-risk families. She is Associate Professor of Medicine at Columbia University, Chair of the American Heart Association (AHA) Council on Epidemiology and Prevention, and President of the American Society for Preventive Cardiology, two leading professional organizations in heart disease prevention. She chaired the expert panel that wrote the national heart disease prevention guidelines for women and is Chief Medical Advisor for the Sister to Sister: Everyone Has a Heart Foundation. Dr. Mosca recently served on the AHA National Board of Directors and is a media spokesperson. She has received research career awards from the AHA and National Institutes of Health. Dr. Mosca is the mother of two boys and wife of a pediatric heart surgeon. Her family cooks together, studies together and exercises together in pursuit of a happy and healthy lifestyle. A dedicated triathlete, she is a Hawaii Ironman finisher and continues to compete in triathlons with her older son (pictured above).
