Psychologists, educators and related health care professionals spend enormous amounts of time and energy evaluating the abilities of children and adults they serve through assessment. However, in an increasingly diverse culture, verbally-laden instruments cannot be used for many children and adults, including those with speech and/or language deficits, hearing impairments, emotional problems, as well as those who cannot be evaluated with tests which rely on standard English.
