SUMMARY

Karl Barth, one of the greatest theologians of the twentieth century, reknowned for his oppostion and Christocentric theology, was closely involved in the German Church conflict from the beginning. In 1933, he was a teaching Professor at Bonn University when the Nazis came to power. While there, he could equip the Church in Germany for resistance but when he was deported to his native Switzerland in 1935, he could only continue resistance from the outside. In the 1930s, Barth helped found the anti-Nazi Confessing Church with Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He died in Basel in 1968.Barth, Karl is the author of 'German Church Conflict', published 2008 under ISBN 9780718891756 and ISBN 0718891759.
