Elvira Woodruff was born in New Jersey, where most of the Revolution was fought. She has always loved history, and once, while tubing down the Delaware River, she began thinking about what it might have been like on Christmas Eve of 1776. Being a pacifist, she wrote George Washington's Socks for her son Noah, who is very fond of G.I. Joe. While writing, she herself discovered the horrors of war, but also came to understand the strength and courage of those who fought. Besides spending her time writing, Elvira Woodruff visits schools and gives presentations on the Revolutionary War and on writing historical fiction. Formerly a children's librarian and a professional storyteller, Ms. Woodruff lives in Martin's Creek, Pennsylvania, where she's raising her two sons.Woodruff, Elvira is the author of 'George Washington's Socks' with ISBN 9780590440363 and ISBN 0590440365.
