Gandhi paraphrases & explains the Bhagavad Gita, chapter by chapter. This is not a translation; Gandhi wrote accomplished prose in English. He wrote Gandhi on the Gita while serving a short prison term in 1931. An earnest seeker wrote him a letter asking for explanation of an ethical question in the Gita. He answered with a letter & then another, until he had written a letter for each of the eighteen chapters. These letters became a short complete book in which Gandhi retells in his own words the Gita story, following each chapter with his understanding of the ethical issues involved --- India's greatest saint gives his interpretation of India's most beloved writing.
