From Iowa Roots

From Iowa Roots is the story of the Midwestern farm environment that shaped the author's outlook; her early growing years in the Martin family; the Iowa schooling that prepared her for her profession; her years of teaching; and her reflections about family members, students, friends, and life in general. Whether readers have ever been school teachers or not, they will find themselves smiling, laughing, or perhaps shedding tears as they empathize with the experiences related by the author and reminisce about their own experiences. Contents include "Willow School," an introductory poem by longtime University of Iowa professor Cleo Martin depicting a typical Iowa 0ne-room country school of the 1930's; and the following sections: I.
