Praise for this edition: There are chapters on abuse of adolescents and children, elders, and the intimate partner, and particularly revealing sections on testifying, law enforcement and forensic photography. Although the book is American, its relevance is worldwide. The characteristics of dysfunctional behaviour are universal. Any publication that raises the profile of this human tragedy is welcome. The epitome of evidence based medicine ! British Medical Journal, 15th September, 2001 I was very impressed by the scope of topics covered - and presented in a way that will stimulate clinical students to read around the subject in more detail. In particular, evidential issues relating to the examination of live persons (either the victims or suspected perpetrators of assaults) are covered thoroughly. In my opinion, if this book just contained Chapter 4 it would be worth it for undergraduates starting their clinical training to purchase. The book was easy to read, and absorbing. It manages to cover all aspects of clinical forensic medicine that will present themselves to medical students and practicing doctors in casualty departments, and will be a useful reference text to all of those involved in the fields of traumatology, accident and emergency medicine, forensic physicians, pathologists and those involved in law enforcement. In summary, 'Forensic Emergency Medicine' is an essential read! Now all we need is for the topics covered in this text to find their way onto our curriculum! www.forensicmed.co.uk, 2nd March, 2002Olshaker, Jonathan S. is the author of 'Forensic Emergency Medicine' with ISBN 9780781731447 and ISBN 0781731445.
