Carmen Garc?a, a native of Lima, Peru, received her Ph.D. in Linguistics from Georgetown University. She is currently an Associate Professor of Spanish, Applied Linguistics, and Pragmatics, Director of the Undergraduate Spanish Language Program, and Coordinator of the Masters in Linguistics Program at Arizona State University. Dr. Garc?a is author or co-author of several college-level textbooks. She also has published numerous articles in national and international journals on foreign language teaching, as well as on Spanish pragmatics and cross-cultural communication. In addition, she recently published RESEARCH ON POLITENESS IN THE SPANISH-SPEAKING WORLD.
