Strength. Dignity. Humanity. Grace. These most human and admirable of qualities are not commonly the first we associate with America's homeless, so often overlooked or avoided on the city streets, but these are the qualities that can be found in the faces pictured in this astonishing book of portraits. These are our sisters and brothers, and this collection of portraits honours them. Photographer Lynn Blodgett took the time to find the grace and dignity in his subjects. He listened to their stories, and he has created a compelling and gorgeous social document, startlingly beautiful and simple. Finding Grace is Lynn Boldgett's elegant statement of humanity. While travelling the country, as head of the nation's largest provider of computer based services to state and local governments, Blodgett began keeping a photographic journal of the homeless faces, and the stories, of people he met in every city he visited. What we witness through his lens is the grace and humanity that can be found in the gravest of circumstances. Blodgett was tutored in photography by the LA-based photographer Andrew Eccles, whom he met at the Santa Fe Workshops. Andrew Eccles was selected by the New York Times to shoot the cover of their millennium time capsule issue, and used an award-winning photograph of Steve Martin on the cover of the New York Times 100 Years of Photography issue. Finding Grace: The Face of America's Homeless will be the subject of an exhibition in Dallas, to raise funds for the city's homeless initiative, and become a model for Blodgett's fundraising in cities across the country, each time raising funds to benefit local homeless shelters and projects.Blodgett, Lynn is the author of 'Finding Grace The Face of America's Homeless', published 2007 under ISBN 9781601091055 and ISBN 1601091052.
