Exquisite Moments: West Lake and Southern Song Art

This exhibition reevaluates Southern Song art in the context of the geography, cultural traditions and historical references of West Lake in Hangzhou. The Southern Song (1127 - 1279) capital of Lin'an, located near beautiful West Lake, was the center of a dynasty that looked largely inward. In this regard, the story of Southern Song art can be presented in a manner that is site-specific.
