Tells the story of the Eureka Stockade, when on 3 December 1854, colonial troopers in Ballarat attacked a group of mostly unarmed gold miners who had erected a stockade to protest their living and working conditions. Over 20 miners and 4 troopers were killed in the first and only armed rebellion for democratic rights in Australian history. Includes colour reproductions, notes, bibliography and index.
