George Anton Kiraz is the founder and director of Beth Mardutho: The Syriac Institute. Previously he was a technical manager at Nuance Communications in New York. Earlier, he worked as a research scientist in Bell Laboratories' Language Modeling Department, where he developed language modeling for text-to-speech applications by using finite-state methods. He is the author of the six-volume Concordance to the Syriac New Testament (1993) and the four-volume Comparative Edition of the Syriac Gospels (1996). He has also published various pedagogical textbooks on Syriac and numerous scientific papers on computational linguistics in international journals and conference proceedings.
