AUTHOR

Hill, Brad

SUMMARY

Brad Hill is the author of several books about music and home technology. The Virtual Musician, published by Schirmer Books, is the landmark guide to the Internet for musicians. Going Digital (Schirmer Books again) is a companion for musicians embarking into the brave new world of digital instruments and music computers. MIDI for Musicians, his first book, remains a popular guide to the basics of synthesizers, samplers, and other modern musical creatures. Brad began his music career by composing little pieces for the piano, and gave his first public piano concert, in a local church, when he was nine years old. Continuing to study piano through high school, Brad attended the Manhattan School of Music and was a finalist in the International Bach Competition. In his twenties, Brad broadened his repertoire by studying jazz piano and built a full-time career playing nightly in clubs and restaurants for several years. Later he turned to music production, constructed a hi-tech synthesizer studio, and produced original sound tracks for films and books on tape. Brad's literary career has focused on lucid and entertaining explanations of complex technical subjects, covering not only music technology but the Internet and multimedia. He has been a guest in over fifty radio interviews on, among other programs, Fred Fishkin's "Boot Camp" on WCBS in New York and Ron Sulcov's "L.A. Speaks Out" on KIIS in Los Angeles. He has appeared extensively on television, including Good Day L.A., CNN, Business News Network, and the Turner Entertainment Network. Brad has been interviewed dozens of times for print publications such as the New York Times, Billboard magazine, and the Christian Science Monitor seeking his expertise and advocacy of home technology. Brad is listed in Who's Who, and is a member of the Author's Guild.
