Rykel H. de Bruyne is an experienced malacologist (mollusk expert). Since he first began to study mollusks professionally over twenty years ago, he has worked on innumerable research projects within the domain of malacology. He has been affiliated with the Malacology Department of the Zoological Museum in Amsterdam for over fifteen years De Bruyne is the author of various malacological publications.
