Black, White or Mixed Race?: Race and Racism in the Lives of Young People of Mixed Parentage

Racially mixed couples are no longer a rare phenomenon. One third of British people of Afro-Caribbean origin under the age of thirty who are currently married or co-habiting, have white partners. Based on recent research involving young people from a range of social backgrounds, all of whom had one white and one African or Afro-Caribbean parent, Tizard and Phoenix explore the issue of mixed race identity, especially in relation to social work policy.
