David E. Carter produced his first book on logo design in 1972, and over the years has produced more than 100 books on the topics of logos, corporate identity, advertising, and graphic design. He is the biggest-selling editor/author in the history of graphics books. He has a varied background which includes founding an agency that quickly qualified for AAAA membership. Soon after, he won his first Clio for an ad he created. He also worked in television, writing and producing more than 700 commercials. After he founded a TV production company, his work appeared on PBS and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. He won seven Emmy Awards for work he wrote and/or produced. He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, and received a master's degree in advertising from the Ohio University School of Journalism. He returned to the classroom some years later, earning an MBA from Syracuse University.
