Jonathan L. Fairbanks has a long-standing international reputation as a curator, author, and teacher, and as an accomplished artist himself. From 1971 to 1999 he was in charge of American decorative arts and sculpture at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where he organized a series of major exhibitions, including Paul Revere's Boston, 1735-1818 (1975), New England Begins: The Seventeenth Century (1982), and Glass Today by American Studio Artists (1997).
