Anne Beiser Allen has been writing about historical personalities for many years. Her work has appeared in such publications as American History, The Palimpsest (now known as Iowa Heritage Illustrated) and Minnesota History. In 2000, she published An Independent Woman: The Life of Lou Henry Hoover. One of her articles received the Throne-Aldrich Award from the Iowa State Historical Society in 2003. In 2005, her children¿s book, What Can I Do? was published by Alpha Xi Delta sorority as part of a project to encourage reading among young children. Her poetry has appeared in several periodicals, including The Living Church. The daughter of an army officer, she traveled widely in her early years and was confirmed in the Episcopal Church by the English Bishop of Whitby in Fontainebleau, France.
