John Tebbel who is one-sixteenth Indian, the descendant of a historic Michigan family, worked for major newspapers and magazines until he became chairman of the Journalism Department at New York University, where he divided his time between teaching and writing. He is the author of forty books, including historical fiction Keith Jennison was a Canadian, but spent most of his life in Vermont and New York City, where he was a legendary figure in book publishing, as well as an author of books.
