You Are a Daughter of the King The music video shows a young man rapping verses over a throbbing beat. In the video, everything revolves around him. He sets himself up as a king, dripping with gold chains and diamond pendants shaped like his initials, rims, and even a cross. He's fully dressed, but the young women spinning around him have very little on. No matter. The scantily clad video girls are an accessory, no more valuable than the cheap chains around his neck. They are useful only as long as they please the rapper. When something bigger, shinier, or prettier comes along, he discards them. Nobody knows the video girls' names. Nobody looks into their eyes. Their attention is focused on the parts of the girls' bodies that God meant to be secret. Do you think these girls feel special? Once, you were just like those video girls. You were a slave to sin. But Jesus noticed you. He's far more powerful and much richer than a rap star. And He's definitely more compassionate. Jesus scooped you up in His gentle hands. He didn't leave you to die. He picked you up from the muck and mire you were trapped in, looked into your eyes, and fell in love with you. He cleaned you up and told you tolive(see Ezekiel 16:6-7). Then He did something truly amazing: He adopted you (see Ephesians 1:4-5). You are part of a royal family. Galatians 3:26 says, "For you are sons [and daughters] of God through faith in Christ Jesus" (NASB). "God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts crying out, 'Abba, Father!'" (Galatians 4:6 NASB). Abba is the privileged, deeply personal way to sayFather. It's like calling GodDaddy. You are the King's beloved baby, His priceless princess. He also off ers His tender father care, always: "Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on" (Matthew 6:25 NKJV). Our great God, King of all Kings, promises to clothe you in a splendor that rivals the lilies of the field (see Matthew 6:28-29). Jesus said even King Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed as beautifully as those flowers. And you will be clothed in greater garments, Princess. Wear your crown with joy! Your shining robe of righteousness. Walk in the light He's given you. You are rescued. You are saved. You are His, the daughter of the King.
